At first, we wanted to skip Rottnest Island, just outside Perth, but the locals convinced us – “Margret River and Rottnest Island is something you HAVE to see” : )
The Tuesday offer on ‘My Rotto’ made our decision! With half price of the ferry tickets and borrowed bikes from Shirley, we were definitely going!
The night before, it was raining like never before.. but we had no choice, we had already bought the tickets! It was cloudy, but it didn’t rain, so we were still lucky!
Sherry, another sailing volunteer, joined us on our one day bike adventure : ) and we had proper picnic with us – sandwiches, vegetables, fruits, cakes, corn, chocolate, you mention it – we were spoiling ourselves! We got no sunshine, but we had some good food! : )
Due to the weather, we decided to do the longest track around the island. There was no point to sit on the beach : ) It was better to get sweaty on the bikes!
22 km, 5-6 hours, and literally a pain in the ass later, we arrived back to where we started.
Wonderful views, plenty of stops(picnics), and several meetings with the famous Quakas – a combination of a mini kangaroo and a rat – really sweet!
Another very long, intensive, and beautiful day! : ) : )
