Yesterday, with (temporary) no electricity at our room in the little family guest house Somia, we decided to enjoy a meal and go around in Panaji - the capital of Goa. The city has a strong Portuguese influence not only when it comes to infrastructure it occurs, but also with the tradition of siestas. We had to finish up our meal, since the restaurant was closing (at 3 p.m. !). It is not a big city, and we could just walk around to see the most of it. We tried a new fruit, called something - apple, which we will find again and show on a picture later on! Very good!
Today, we had to check out at 8 which motivated us to finally get used to the new time, and function as they do here :) We walked to Kadamba Bus station to travel as locals down to south Goa. We stood in a queue with around 80 Indians in front of us, to get the tickets for the shuttle bus to Margao - a city 26 km away from Panaji. We changed bus to another local one, to get to Canacona (another 30km) - a little city nearby Palolem Beach, where we wanted to stay. We MANAGED, and the experience of local traveling was interesting and better than we expected! On the pics you can see a little house - the place we are staying in! Millions of palm threes, green environment, no-stress life style, and many cows on the beach! We like it! Although, we have to get used to our new sacred friends next to us, on the sand! :) There is no sun, but as long as it doesn't rain, we are happy. We concluded that we have been spending more time on buses, and on our way than in any place we are staying, so tomorrow will be a lazy day here in Palolem... a book, a walk, or just sitting under a palm three is THE PLAN at the moment!
